WiFi problems.
Sigh, wireless.
Ok so today I bought this Wifi card because I need to have Wifi now, http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=273535
Basically I can't get it to work on windows 64 bit, and either the drivers or the card is freezing up my Windows XP to a full lock, have to force reboot.
I installed the windows XP drivers off the CD and everything, I open the windows wireless network menu and it finds no wireless networks at all, and I don't know what to do with the Belkin utility - it finds the Wifi's, but when I try and connect to one it just sits and does nothing, no menus or anything.
What should I do? If you need anymore information just ask, It's kind of late so if I leave out essential details that's why.
Thanks for any help, just want to get this working.. Wifi has always been a pain in the butt.

I'm not sure if I had the same problem so this may not work but when i upgraded to vista my wireless thing didn't have the correct drivers to work with vista. I had no way of updating it either sinnce i was unable to connect to the internet through it, so i got a cable moved my comp next to modem then downloaded the drivers. After that i moved my computer back to my room.

What wireless router are you using? Is the router configured to accept new clients?
In my experience, Belkin cards are more than a little annoying. But once we know more about the router that will help us diagnose the connectivity problems.
With Vista locking up...hmm...aren't there some IPv6 options that are turned on by default that aren't needed/can cause problems? I can't remember what they are right now, but if your router doesn't support IPv6, that may cause problems. I don't think it should cause your computer to lock up, but they may be related somehow.

Sure its compatible with vista?
Also be sure your router is set to enabled for Wireless SSID Broadcast. Also check the MAC filter, if its enabled add your computer the filter or disable it.

Well, it was locking windows XP, Vista is fine.
Also I have a Belkin Wireless N router, and a Linksys modem.
This is my model: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=372043
And yeah I set that up, so I know it will accept incoming connections, people always come over with their laptops and they can connect right away, it's just a configuration/driver issue with the card it seems, but I don't know what to do about it.
The site said they have beta Vista 64 bit drivers for my card, so I'm sure they would at least remotely kind of work, but the install didn't work, I didn't get the setup utility and all, I guess I'll dig more for other drivers.
Oh yeah forgot to mention, their little ''Compatibility chart'' says that my card does work with Vista and is supported, also the beta drivers suggest this as well.
____
EDIT: I installed it into my second computer, put the CD in and installed the drivers, it works instantly and I'm getting 32 ping in Guild Wars. I don't get why it works in this one, with XP Pro SP2 but it won't work in my main computer.. must be something like a conflict or something, that's really weird.

If you have other network devices present, try disabling them in device manager. Also check in Administration Tools->Services and be sure Wireless Zero Configuration service (installed with SP2) is enabled. If Belkin is using its own service try disabling that.
